The Mendocino fire is now the biggest fire EVER in California.

The Carr fire is up near Redding, started at Whiskeytown Lake and is also huge.

There is a blaze threatening Yosemite.

And other fires....

More than 800 structures lost.

This all started in July, and is far beyond a normal fire season. Nine lives have been lost, to date. God bless and protect our firefighters, and everyone else working on these fires. One death was a dozer driver. One was a technician for a power company. Another was a technician en route from his town to the Carr fire. Another was the fiancee of a friends' niece. It's DANGEROUS out there.

Meantime, in Sacramento, the air has been smokey enuf to obscure the sun for weeks now. Inhalers are getting lots of use.

Today, i can see some blue sky. I saw a little yesterday, but today, the blue is more sure of itself.
